If you're looking for a fun fantasy series, I think you'll enjoy The Monster Realm and The Three Worlds. Here are just a few of the characters you'll meet. Maisy seems to be everyone's favorite, which she would love.
In my novels, elves do not look like Orlando Bloom! Here's a page from A Lanodekan Bestiary featuring a real elf. I like messing around with expectations.
My dad and I created a monster field guide / coloring book. Each creature is introduced with their mythical history as told by humans--and the real stories known only to the monsters themselves. You can buy A Lanodekan Bestiary on Amazon OR I'll send you a free PDF of the whole book when you buy either The Monster Realm or The Three Worlds.
This is a comic strip created by my dad and Erich Owen. This homework story cracks me up. Stay tuned -- Part 2 of the series is coming soon.
Last month I was invited to speak at TEDxKids in El Cajon. It was an amazing event! Just look at all these speakers. In Medusa's Guide to Novel Writing, I showed how I wrote two novels, step by step. I began the talk by asking, "Raise your hand if you'd answer Yes to this question." Look at all those hands!
The map on the back of The Three Worlds shows only the western half of Lanodeka. But in The Three Worlds, the story moves into new territory, so the back of that book shows the eastern side of Lanodeka. If you lay them side by side, you can see the whole map! I recognize the teen on the right. But who is that kid on the left?!
The final color cover is here. Thanks, Elisabeth. You are the perfect artist for my books. What's that ominous tower in the background? Why is the forest on fire? What are those creatures swirling around Lillian? Who is that warrior-looking girl behind Lillian? You'll have to read the book to find out!
